HOW TO GO TO SALVADOR

AIR

Salvador's Deputado Luis Eduardo Magalhães International Airport (SSA) is the main Bahian airport. Flights from all over the country arrive here as well as flights from the rest of South America, Europe and the U.S.

Flying from the Americas

Bus transportation

There are a lot of bus companies such as São Geraldo, Itapemirim, Águia Branca, Gontijo, Real Expresso and Bomfim that have daily buses connecting Brazils major cities with Salvador.
From São Paulo, there are buses on a regular basis. The approximate travel time is about 30 hours and ticket costs around R$ 200.
If one is coming from the northeast of Brazil (Fortaleza) there are daily buses to Salvador. The approximate travel time is about 24 hours and ticket costs around R$ 100.

Private car

Departing from the Northeast of Brazil, one can access the BR-101 until the intersection with BR-324 and then continue on it until Salvador.
Departing from the south of Brazil, one can either access it by the BR-101 or by the BR-116. If one goes by the BR-116, follow it until Feira de Santana and then continue on to the BR-324 until Salvador.
Departing from the Midwest region, one can access the BR-242 until Argoim and the intersection with BR-116 until Feira de Santana and then followed the BR-324 until Salvador.
Departing from the north, one can access the BR-316 until Piauí. Then follow the BR-407 until Capim Grosso and continue on to the BR-324 until Salvador.

FERRY BOAT

The ferry boat linking Salvador to Bom Despacho, in Itaparica Island, allows shorten in 100 miles the distance between the state capital and the southern beaches of Bahia. There is a ferry every hour, from 05:00 to 23:30.
